VOCODER RADIOTELESCOPE

Cosmic shit. Soooo good. EspaƱa!!!

Vocoder - What happens now?

Just pulled this out tonight to listen to. I forgot how much I liked this 12". The flip has a song called "radio" which is super fast with the girl singing in French and sounds like a child almost. They are a Spanish group from Zaragoza I believe. They have some cool stuff out there. You may think it's cheesy, but it reminds me of the time I lived in Spain and all my friends. Anyway, funny video. The record sleeve says they used a Juno 60, Prophet 5, DX-7, Poly 61 with a Linndrum and another drum machine. I can't remember, but they run around the super market with 101's and stuff. Pretty goofy. Slick stuff.

Dj Chupacabras on WTBS Newtown Radio by djchupacabras

Dj Chupacabras on WTBS Newtown Radio by djchupacabras

This is a smaller part from the show I posted below. Speculator talking and me playing. We drank a lot of beer this day there, it was really hot in there. Have fun...

Shortbus Reunion Show

On July 5th I played on the W.T.B.S. show with Speculator on Newtown Radio. Feel free to check out the full archive for this show here: www.newtownradio.com Years ago me (Chupacabras) and Speculator started Shortbus on East Village radio. It's been a long time since we actually played records together AND WE HAD FUN. Spec kind of gets it bangin there around the 1 hour mark, but there are some nice records in there. Check it out for yourself.

Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes - The Love I Lost (Theo Parrish Edit)

One of the best edits I've heard. I heard someone play this out not too long ago, and it's been stuck in my head. Teddy Pendergrass' voice is really haunting and deep on this one. The break around 2:20 is the shit too. I like the way Theo Parrish pops it back in with the high hats poppin and the drums stompin. "I lost, sorry I lost". Ugly Edits at their best...

Shamwell - Do It On The One (Fun In The Sun)

This track is pretty insane. Super uplifting boogie. I found a copy In DC the other week. There's some really good stuff on this label. Check out Fern Kinney's "I'm Ready For Your Love" too. I've been more into the instrumental of this Shamwell track, but hey you may enjoy the vocal more. The instrumental also doesn't have the yakkity sax as Professor Genius would say. I can honestly say this track holds up really well without the vocals. It just keeps driving with those great flanged out snares and cool synth melodies. Keep buying vinyl!!!
