I can remember planning Building my whole world around you And I can remember hoping That you and I could make it on through But something went wrong We loved each other We just couldn't get along Take a good look at me I'm in misery, can't you see
The love I lost (the love, the love I lost) Was a sweet love (it was a sweet love) The love I lost (the love, the love I lost) Was complete love (it was complete love) The love I lost (the love I lost) I will never (never) no no never (Never) love again ooh
I can't remember nothing, no no But the good times we used to share I'm so sad and lonely Without you my life is so dead I'm sorry to say You go your way and I'll go my way It hurts deep inside The day we said goodbye, but
(CHORUS:) The love I lost (the love, the love I lost) Was a sweet love (it was a sweet love) The love I lost (the love, the love I lost) Was complete love (it was complete love) The love I lost ooh ooh I will never (never) no no never (Never) love again (I'll never love again) I will never (never) no no never (Never) love again ooh ooh ooh ooh I will never (never) no no never (Never) love again
The love, the love I lost, ooh The love, the love I lost
I'll be playing records at this relatively new bar in Williamsburg Friday night. Expect a lot of 45's and weird ass trax. Feel free to stop by and check out this new spot before everyone you know dj's here.
Oh SORRY for the horrendous looking flyer, I made it on some weird google program, and I like to keep it ghetto...
The intro to this track is just so good. I remember hearing this years ago at an outdoor party in Spain. Doesn't really get much better than this for me as far as a dance track is concerned. I guess I've seen a ton of Salsoul records living in NY. I haven't run across a clean copy of this one though. Bootlegs galore, this track gives me the chills.
I don't think I have anything better to say about this track than the comment that is on the Youtube page. Jeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzz.......
Back in the 80s, I used to work at the "San Tropicana Resort" in Mexico. It was a really sleazy place. Lots of fugitives, prostitutes and swinging couples. One night by the poolside there was a massive party. About 200 people were in the pool having sex while this song was playing in the background. Some fat sleazy guy was getting a blow job at the hotel pool bar while some hooker was licking his balls. Unbelievable scene that could have only happened in the 80s. This song brings it all back.
Not sure how many of you know about the singer from Jo Squillo (and Jo Squillo Eletrix) but she later went on to become a well known reporter of a fashion show in Italy. Jo Squillo Eletrix put out Avventurieri as well, an amazing moody new wavey disco track. Although this video gets cut off, it shows the attitude that can push a song into a better direction. She has such a crazy look in her face and the "I don't give a fuck" attitude that we all need sometimes.
Too much disco on the blog lately! Here's a Dj Speculator classic. This song is REALLY good. I think it took a bit to grow on me (as most of the better songs do). Cool band on a Belgian label, and they were prolly Belgian as well. Very Spandau Ballet in my opinion. This much may not be true...

If you missed this release, give it a listen. The Dirtbombs rule as one of my favorite Detroit bands and some of these covers are sick. Check it out...
Found this 45 at The Thing the other day. The version on the 7" is different "remix" and obviously shorter at 3:42 compared to this 12" version clocking 5:35. The remix has a really cool synth growling in there. Killer song. I love this label TSOB, I guess "The Sound of Brooklyn" has changed but we'll see where it ends up. Mel Sheppard producing alongside Billy Nichols.
