Hugo Capablanca will be back next week from Berlin to play at Market Hotel in Bushwick, NY with me and some friends. I think this is gonna be a fun night. Who knows what time it'll end at this place. The parties always seem to go pretty late. If you're around stop by. $5 to get in, and we're gonna take Speculator's Sound System. Another very gay flyer from Jose Garcia. Hope to see you there!

Technology Transplant..
Here's a cool link from some people that can help you get your gear lookin good. I was having trouble finding slider caps for my Juno 6, until a friend sent me a link to this place called Technology Transplant. I finally got these after years of not having them. They have some great things from Roland, Moog and SCI to get your stuff running right. Apart from cosmetic items you'll find replacement potentiometers and batteries also. They shipped my caps from Hong Kong to me in less than a week. Now I want to replace the 606 parts internally. Have a look:

Comin slowly...
This was a photo I took before I had to yank the Crumar. Everyone got all their shit set up pretty quick. Spec has been on a shopping spree of new gear and Eliot has been touring a lot. Hopefully I'll have a Minimoog after my tax rebates. Also I'll put up some of my new songs (collaborated with Spec) on Soundcloud hopefully by next week. Spring is here, have a nice weekend.

Crumar Orchestrator is out sick
Not sure what's goin on, but it seems that it's a loose solder joint somewhere. After speaking with the electrician at my work it seems I will need to retrace a lot of the solders in the unit. The sound goes in and out with a distorted noise taking the place of what should come out. I usually slam my fist down on it and it "turns" back on. So let's see if I don't fry this with my horrible soldering skills.

New Studio in Brookyn
I've been really busy setting up a new studio here in Brooklyn with the Galaxy Toobin gang. So now my neighbors where I live can rejoice and my new ones can start to complain about the noise. Everything is pretty much set up and the sound proofing will begin this weekend. We have a view of the Manhattan skyline and the building is nice. I'll try to post some photos as things progress. Stay tuned...

Time Marches On.
Yup in the famous words of the Jungle Wonz, it seems my birth date is once again upon me. If you're in my zip code, please stop by to hear Dj's Speculator and Morelli do what they do best. The bar also just got brand new 1200's and some new speakers. Oh and there's a really cool car race video game at the bar too.

Los Massieras EP out soon!
Just heard the mastered MP3's of this new release on Bananamania from Berlin. Trust me, you need to keep a look out for this one...
A1. Boogity Boogity Boogity
B1. Bananamania
B2. Shroom Heaven
LOS MASSIERAS do not exist in your time
or universe! LOS MASSIERAS are a reality
only in your 70s boogie state of mind!
This re-edit project formed by two well
known Berliner DJs aims to bring a fresh
approach to the art of bastardization.
Boogity Boogity Boogity is their first EP,
which also launches the new (velvet)
underground label BANANAMANIA. Each
track is quite different, from the floor-
oriented boogie title track, to the mutant
disco of “Bananamania”, to the
psychedelic delirium that is “Shroom
Master,” which has already gained instant
fans such as Lovefingers.

What a pile of crap.
So last night I was at the secret underground Grackle studio trying this out. TOTALLY LAME. Don't waste your hard earned money on this "voice box". What ever happened to the good shit Electro Harmonix put out: Small Stone, Big Muff Pi, Electric Mistress, Holy Grail and Q-Tron. Sure these are still being made in a new housing with a number of newer versions, but COME ON. The vocoder needs to be hooked up with the mic via XLR's as well as 1/4" Jack in and outs for the keyboard of your choice. Sounds awful, with virtually no parameters to change the sound. You're stuck with a high pitched tinny sound. You won't be doing a version of Freestyle "Don't Stop the Rock" with this. The other effects also fell way short in what I thought would be achievable. I have to say, if you want (or wanted) one of these, try it out first. Just go buy a used Microkorg for $200. Sorry EH, but this was the worst box I tried in years.

A lot of gear for sale in the New York area.
Lately I've noticed so many different cool synths and drum machines for sale in the NY area (as well as Jersey.) It seems that people don't want their old synths. Lately looking at craigslist (and spending way too much time there), I've seen some great things poppin up. Such as a SCI Prohet 600, Yamaha CS 01, CS 50, Moog Rouge, Arp 2600, Roland Jupiter 6, Roland TR 808 & 909. Just to name a few. So keep your eyes peeled. Let's give these machines nice new homes. Here's a photo of my chaotic current studio set up. Might put up some tracks very soon. KEEP BUYING ANALOG!!!
